As we shared in our whole house mood board post, we’re going for a bit of a scandi-mod vibe in our house. That means lots of black and white, which is great and feels so fresh. But in an effort to break up all of that black and white, we’re also trying to add warmth and texture very intentionally.
Things like cozy blankets and knit pillows are oft-cited sources of that hygge vibe, but we’re also looking for some natural warmth—meaning touches of wood, and, yes, leather.
Leather isn’t something we had in the city house—that place was much more of a clean modern vibe—so we’re finding ways to add it in now as accents that don’t break the bank. (A leather couch isn’t in the budget, though I also don’t think it would really fit the house.)
So today I thought I’d share some of the best leather touches I’ve found in my research, and a little sneak peak at how we’re planning to incorporate this natural texture in our home.

For our master bedroom, I am on the hunt for one or two leather chairs to create a cozy reading nook. Since we’re going dark on the walls, but there are good windows, it will be a great place to curl up with a good read. (I’ve never been a fan of a TV in the bedroom.)
We’re also going to try to define our new entry space (once we move the front entrance) with a mirror, some coat hooks, and a bench—and I think leather would be a great option right when you walk in our house, to set the tone.
I also love the idea of putting a strap mirror and some shelves in the powder room. But, to save money, we’re going to try to reuse mirrors we already have.
And, of course, who doesn’t love an accent pillow?? I think both of these leather options would be the perfect way to add warmth to a non-leather sofa.
What do you think? Would you add leather to your home? Let me know in the comments!
