Hi! It’s so great to be back after a week off while we were traveling in The Netherlands and The UK! Missed out on the fun? Check out the “Europe 2019” saved story on Instagram to get caught up.
We’ve shared a couple of peaks at our farmhouse already (check out the pantry “before” here), but today I really wanted to share a photo tour to help you get acquainted with the new space.
I’m a little nervous to share before pictures when I have no “after” to delight you…but you’ll just have to trust me that great things are coming!
Kitchen
Here is our beautiful kitchen. This room clearly got a lot of love from the previous owners, and after living through a kitchen renovation in the city house, we’re so glad not to have to do that again!

This giant island (we’ve got 4 barstools lined up!) was a major selling point for us on this house.
We have only small changes planned for this room—it needs some paint touch ups on the cabinets, and we might paint the wall cabinets since I’m not big on the Ikea grey color.

I’ve already ordered some new pendants in here because these ones are just not doing it for me!
Entry
This space formerly housed a (small) dining table, but we’re planning on making these French doors our entry doors, so we are moving the table further down and focusing on creating an entryway here (after Christmas).

In the long term, we’re going to switch up the floors for sure (there are 3 different “wood” floors all in this space) and get some tile in this area.
We’ll also add a bench, mirror, and some hooks so that it feels like the entrance to our home and not just walking into the middle of our home.
Living/Dining
The plan in here is to remove the front door so that the space doesn’t feel like a hallway as much anymore. That will mean that this space doesn’t have to be as much of a walk through area (you can see we’ve blocked the walkway now by putting our table in front of it).

The table and couch will be swapped so that the dining area will be closest to the kitchen.
We’re also looking into removing the brick (it’s not a fireplace) and a small closet that’s on the other side of it (though when exactly we’re doing that is a mystery).
Master Bathroom
This bathroom clearly got some updates from the previous owners, but it’s too small to be functional for us. We are planning to take down some walls and completely rework this space!

Stay tuned for this one because we don’t have a specific design plan yet.
Upstairs Bathroom

This room looks really good and clearly also got some love, but it makes me nuts that they didn’t tile all the way up to the ceiling so we’re going to see if we can remedy that. And obviously this paint color has got to go!

We’re also in the market for a light that doesn’t feel so awkwardly oversized. (Is this a dining room light?)
Mudroom
When a mudroom is good, it’s sooooo good, right? It’s so fabulous to have a designated mudroom space, and we don’t plan to do much to this space other than touch up the paint on the cubbies and switch out the boob light.

I would love to see some color in this corner space to keep it feeling fun, bright, and welcoming.
Stay Tuned for an All New Farmhouse!
Obviously, this tour wasn’t comprehensive, because I didn’t feel the need to show you every single room (don’t worry, I did take “before” pictures throughout the home) at this point.
We are so excited to dive in and get to work with renovations and decorating so that we have progress to show you!
I hate to have to keep saying stay tuned, but we’re still living out of boxes and trying to get settled. The good thing is that living in the space is making it very clear which projects need to happen right away and which ones can wait…which was 100% our intention with moving more slowly on renovating this time.
Have ideas for us? Share them in the comments of this Instagram post! I’d love to hear your thoughts!
