It’s no secret that I’m a big reader, and, given my interests, I end up reading a lot of interior design books—and with some exciting releases in 2022, it’s a great interest to have!
This year, I’ve been trying to preorder books when I see they’re going to be coming out. I’ve heard that preordering is one of the best things you can do for authors, so if I think I might buy it anyway, I go ahead and preorder. The best part? When they show up, you’ve got a little surprise gift (from you) that you’re guaranteed to love!
So today I thought I’d share a few of the home and design books I’m preordering this year in anticipation of their release! Ready? Let’s get reading.

Wonderland: Adventures in Decorating (March 2022)
Okay, oops, this one actually came out already and I’ve been envious of everyone who *did* preorder it, realizing I probably should have—it looks absolutely wonderful. This is a collection of rooms from designer Summer Thornton, a sophisticated maximalist (check her out on Instagram) with a sense of whimsy.
In this book, she showcases her own home and others she’s designed, organized by theme, and encourages readers to make their own rules. Amazing!
Probably This Housewarming: A Guide to Create a Home You Adore (April 2022)
I started writing this post before this one came out, but it has actually already arrived at my door! This one is really so much more than a design book, as it delves into how you live—and entertain—in your home as well. The sections are Design, DIY, and Entertain (in the order of events, really).
Probably This is such a fun blog to follow, and I know the book will be no different. If you’re interested in some budget-friendly ideas that stretch beyond simply design, this might be the book for you!
The New Design Rules: How to Decorate and Renovate, from Start to Finish (May 2022)
It’s no secret that I love Emily Henderson—I’ve referred you to her first book before, and I love reading her blog most days. This book sounds like it will be a how-to on renovations as well as decorating, which is appropriate as Emily is in the middle of a major renovation herself!
Of course, we’re hoping that, when it arrives, I no longer really need it—we’ll be mostly done renovating—but I’m sure I’ll enjoy it anyway, and I’ll definitely get some inspiration out of the photos! I always love Emily’s blog for the diverse and eclectic styles showcased, so I hope the book is no different.
PS: if you’re preordering, be sure to enter this contest to pick Emily’s brain!
Vibrant Interiors: Living Large at Home (May 2022)
If you love classic style with an engaging, dynamic twist, this is probably the book for you. A collection of the best from Andrea Schumacher Interiors, it’s all about energetic, personality-filled interiors!
Her style is so interesting to me because it’s playful and yet sophisticated and somewhat traditional at the same time. This book is sure to deliver some layered, beautiful rooms.
At Home with Art: A Beginner’s Guide to Collecting on Any Budget (June 2022)
This topic is so exciting to me, as I’ve been really trying to learn more about art over the past few years! The world of art might *seem* intimidating, but with so many artists and galleries making use of Instagram and email lists, I’ve found it pretty approachable. Still, when it comes to big investments, I like to know what I’m getting into, which is why this book is exciting.
A translation from the french version written by two gallery owners (Wilo and Grove), this book is a guide to art collecting for beginners, with details on honing your eye, starting and defining your collection, and even framing and preserving your art. I can’t wait to read it!
More is More is More: Today’s Maximalist Interiors (September 2022)
If this list tells us anything, it might be that I’m a bit of a closet maximalist, loving the combination of fun patterns, unexpected colors, and bright ideas. In fact, maximalist style is my favorite place to find ideas, mostly because there are usually so many good ideas in one space! I love unexpected combinations, and lots of wallpaper!
This book looks especially exciting because it will bring together inspiration from many designers—including Corey Damen Jenkins, a personal favorite after I watched his Master Class, but also Pierce and Ward, Bunny Williams, and other mega design stars. I look forward to learning from their process, and their tips for layering so many beautiful elements to create a “wow” space.
Establishing Home: Creating Space for a Beautiful Life with Family, Faith, and Friends (November 2022)
Okay, the last thing Jean Stoffer needs is an endorsement from me (she’s got plenty of fans and followers) but I’m going to share one anyway! While her design style is quite different from my own, it still is so lovely to look at and things just have a way of coming together in her designs.
I always appreciate design inspiration from a variety of styles, and Stoffer Home tends to be more traditional, even renovating historic properties with a good deal of care and some inspiration from English design.
The book promises to share her journey to becoming the design star we know her as, as well as, I’m sure, a lot of good kitchen inspiration! Don’t miss this one!
